Frequently asked

What does 'GI-certified' mean at House of Pashmina?
Kashmir Pashmina holds a Geographical Indication (GI) registration — the government-backed mark that certifies a shawl is hand-spun and handwoven in Kashmir from genuine Changthangi pashm fibre. Every pure pashmina piece we sell carries the GI mark and ships with a certificate of authenticity.
How do I know it is real pashmina and not viscose or ordinary wool?
Pure pashmina is spun from 12–16 micron Changthangi goat down — finer than a human hair — and is hand-spun and handwoven, never machine-made. The GI label, the certificate and the weave irregularities of a handloom all confirm it. Our guide on how to identify real pashmina walks you through the ring test, burn test and GI verification.
What do the PURE, SEMI and WOOL labels mean?
PURE is 100% pashmina, GI-certified and handwoven in Srinagar. SEMI is a pashmina blend (with silk or fine wool) with the exact ratio disclosed on the listing. WOOL is 100% fine or merino wool — clearly labeled as wool. A SEMI or WOOL piece is never sold to you as pure pashmina. That honesty is the whole point of the house.
What if my piece isn't as described or the certification doesn't match?
We offer a full refund plus ₹500 compensation if any fibre or certification claim doesn't hold up. Email care@houseofpashmina.in within 7 days of delivery with photos and we'll arrange pickup and refund at our cost.
How should I care for and wash pashmina?
Dry clean is safest for pure pashmina; at home, a gentle cold-water hand wash with a mild wool shampoo works — never wring, never tumble dry, dry flat in shade. Store folded with a breathable cover and cedar (not naphthalene). Every order includes a care card, and our /learn guide covers washing step by step.
How long does delivery take, and is COD available?
Within India: 3–7 business days via tracked courier, free shipping above ₹999, and Cash on Delivery available pan-India. Made-to-order and bulk felicitation/corporate pieces add a few days as each is prepared to order.
What is your return policy?
7-day easy returns on unused items in original packaging with the certificate and tags intact. Personalised and bulk-customised pieces are non-returnable unless authenticity or a quality issue is in question, in which case a full refund plus ₹500 compensation applies.
